Meta is suing his former vice president for infrastructure. The company claims that the former CEO stole confidential documents. He allegedly used the information to help a cloud AI startup and recruit colleagues for the startup.
The VP in question writes for twelve years at the parent company of Facebook and Instagram Record. Last June, he left the company to become a senior vice president at a startup. The startup it relates to has not been announced.
According to Meta, the former CEO used his final weeks at the company to steal “a trove of private, sensitive, confidential and non-public documents about Meta’s business and its employees.” The documents contain information about the company's data centers, suppliers, vendors, AI software, and Meta claims Indictment.
The documents were uploaded to the CEO's personal Google Drive and Dropbox accounts. Many files were specially placed in a folder bearing the name of the new employer. Meta also states that some documents were placed on the former employee's new work laptop. This certainly applies to a file called Top Talent, which contains sensitive and confidential information about hundreds of Meta employees. The CEO also contacted several people at Meta shortly after his departure with a job offer.
Meta now accuses the CEO of, among other things, breach of contract and violating California computer crimes laws. The company wants the CEO to pay compensation. The company also wants to take all the money and benefits the man obtained through his alleged theft.
