Maybe it’s just me, but I think this is bloatware created because they are trying to trap you in the Microsoft ecosystem as much as possible. It’s a feature I never wanted; A solution to a problem I don’t have.
Data can be easily exchanged via a self-configured cloud or a cloud from a major software company. For example, you can use a Microsoft 365 account for this. It syncs automatically so the data is always available on the device I want to use it on.
If I want to call, I pick up the phone. If I want to connect via computer, I will schedule a video meeting. What does ‘Laptop or PC calling’ bring to me? Can I now make a voice call or video call relayed through my phone so that I have more delay and data usage is deducted from my data package? Why would I do that?
I hope MS takes serious action on the software they already have and properly addresses the shortcomings of Windows. I would appreciate it much more.
For example, it would be great if they started using forward slashes in file paths, just like any other operating system and in any browser. It would be nice if the OS used UTF-8 instead of Latin1 just like every other OS and in every browser. It would be nice if Windows updates were small in size and not so slow to install. It would be nice if they made the UI a consistent environment. For example, they still haven’t converted the entire Control Panel to the “new” UI despite the OS coming out on October 5, 2021. It would be nice if hard drives were addressed with names instead of random drive letters. It would be nice if apps could use one folder to store all their data instead of having everything scattered, Program Files, x86 Program Files, Local Roaming, My Documents, etc. Maybe they can use the latest version of Internet Explorer and then immediately remove the components from Windows Explorer. Etc., I could go on.
