Home Minister Anneliese Verlinden on Thursday called on Twitter for the advisory committee’s procedures to be respected on Wednesday. Mainly focused on municipalities.
The advisory committee’s decision to delay the reopening of cafes and restaurants from 1 to 8 May and initially confined them to stands, caused great dissatisfaction in the hospitality industry. Some mayors made it clear that they do not have the necessary resources to monitor these procedures and that they will not prevent some operators from opening their businesses.
We sought to balance with yesterday’s actions. Starting May 8, more could be done, particularly overseas. We call on everyone responsible, including local authorities, to respect these measures. This is the only way to limit the spread of the virus, ”the minister tweeted.
Meanwhile, her colleague Wallon from the interior, Christophe Collignon, has called on mayors to start consultations with restaurant service operators in their lands to ensure the stands open on May 8 in the best conditions.
for travel
On Thursday evening, Verlinden explained VRT NWS travel rules. She said the rules that were in effect before the strict travel ban went into effect from Monday. It will also verify whether these testing and quarantine rules will be complied with.
“We have worked hard with the federal states to ensure a good exchange of information,” Verlinden said. In addition to contact tracing centers, information will also be shared with mayors and local police “so that they can randomly verify whether people have been tested or isolated.”
