Why is this important?
Super Mario Bros. The film grossed over $1 billion worldwide and was a huge hit. It’s not unreasonable that both film and gaming companies would want to focus on film adaptations of video games, something that would have been unthinkable twenty years ago.- “Movies based on games haven’t always done well until the last few years. Especially with Super Mario Bros., what Great success It used to be. This film grossed approximately $345 million during its opening weekend. That’s why Nintendo is looking and seeing what other franchises it can use to attract a wider audience.
- The first attempt will be a Legend of Zelda movie, produced by Nintendo boss Shigeru Miyamoto and Hollywood producer Avi Arad. Nintendo will cover more than 50 percent of the costs.
- “Movies are made with More respect for games to make. In the past it was mainly seen as one Grab cash. Now filmmakers treat basic material with more respect. “It makes a big difference,” Bogart says.
- In the 1990s and early 2000s, films like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider received few positive reviews. Such films were also expensive to produce and did not always raise a lot of money.
Overwhelming success
- Today things are different: game studios work with film production to achieve a higher quality result.
- Bogart gives another example: “See also The overwhelming success of the HBO series The Last of Us Which can be seen with us via Streamz. (Based on a 2013 computer game, Mr. Dr.)”
- Sonic the Hedgehog and Pokemon: Detective Pikachu also did well.
- The recent film adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s, a game series popular among young people, proves that you don’t always need good reviews for a blockbuster movie. The film has already collected nearly $276 million. This is the second best score for a movie based on a game after The Super Mario Bros. The film despite negative reviews.
- “Many non-gamers also enjoy those films and series, so there will definitely be more to come,” is Bogart’s vision for the future.
