The Brilliant Stars expansion for the official Pokémon Trading Card game has just been announced, but the next expansion has already been announced. But despite what the name might suggest, Sword & Shield – Astral Radiance doesn’t take us to Galar.
Instead, the mustard comes from Hisui, which means we can welcome new regional variants, new evolutions, and new forms of existing Pokémon. This can already be seen in the reinforcements, which Palkia and Dialga decorate in their original forms. But this is not the most exciting thing.
Astral Radiance will introduce a new Radiant Pokémon. This is Shiny Pokémon, who carved out a work of art. They’re not only pleasing to the eye, because they have a powerful ability or attack that can turn the meta on its head. Because of this, each deck may contain only one radioactive Pokémon. At first, the options will be limited, as Astrial Radiance only contains three radiant Pokémon, but future expansions will likely bring more radiant cards.
For the three Radiant maps, Astral Radiance will introduce eight VSTAR, 21 V, 2 VMAX and more than twenty new trainers. In addition, it contains a subset of Trainer Galllary consisting of thirty cards containing artworks of famous Trainers and their Pokémon.
As always, Astral Radiance will come in Booster Packs, Elite Trainer Chests, and special sets. You can get it from May 27 at participating stores.
