Nintendo has shared the first gameplay footage of Metroid Prime 4. The company confirms that the game will be released in 2025. This is the first time in years that specific details about Metroid Prime 4 have been shared, after development on that game resumed in 2019.
Metroid Prime 4 will be subtitled “Beyond,” Nintendo confirmed during its live demo. The game once again follows intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran on a new adventure, though Nintendo is sharing few concrete details about the story. The trailer shows images of a planet being explored and aliens being fought.
Metroid Prime 4 was announced in 2017, although only the logo appeared. However, in 2019, Nintendo announced that the development process had resumed because the initial results did not meet the company’s quality standards. It has been announced that Retro Studios, the developer behind the original Metroid Prime games, has taken over development.
There has been radio silence surrounding the game ever since, although other Metroid games were released in the meantime, such as Metroid Dread. Nintendo now confirms that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be released for Nintendo Switch in 2025. A more specific date has not yet been announced.
