Bashir Abdi was unable to repeat his achievement last year in the Rotterdam Marathon. Our compatriot came fourth and saw how his friend Abdi Nagy broke the Dutch record.
Six months ago, Bashir Abdi broke the European marathon record in Rotterdam.
Today our compatriot, who did not have a superchrono in mind, did not come close to his own record (which is 2h03’36”).
Abdi hid for a long time in the elite group with his friend Abdi Nagy, who helped him get a bronze medal at the Games in Tokyo.
After 33 kilometers, the leading group tore in two halves. Both El Abidine threatened to miss the shot, but Bashir still had enough in the tank to fill the gap. Naji followed in his friend’s footsteps.
After three kilometers, Bashir Abdi’s barrel seemed to be over. He left a hole, but came back to peck. A few meters off the ground, Abdi lost contact.

Good for improving his Dutch record (2h06’17”). Nageeye is also the first Dutchman to win the Rotterdam Marathon.
