It’s a very busy sporting summer and that can also be felt at VRT. The European Football Championships, the Tour de France that has started, and soon the Olympic Games. But cycling fans are still feeling frustrated.
This is how the stages of the tour are analysed and discussed these days “between soup and chips” in the studio of the European Championship. A big difference from the atmosphere of conviviality that can always be found at the table at the Vive le Vélo site. However, due to the European Football Championship, the first episode will only take place next Sunday, July 7.
So instead of three weeks of Vive le Vélo, we get only two weeks of the popular show. Completely against the wishes of the viewers who also point in the direction of presenter Karl Vanewerkerke. Now that the Red Devils are out of the tournament, there are also dreams that Vive le Vélo will appear even earlier…
So what I don’t understand:
1. Karl Van Nieuwkerke is allowed to play football and ride a bike.
2. Dumbest Euro studio ever.
3. Barely time to discuss DEFTIG.
4. There is no time to discuss TdF.– Kim Wuyckens (@KimWuyckens) July 1, 2024
Can @Vannieuwkerke Finally his season of vive le velo starts? 🙏🏻
– Lynn Prime (@Some1tosayHito) July 1, 2024
Now Vive le vélo can start tomorrow instead of July 7th!@Vannieuwkerke
– Tom Baughman (@tombogman) July 1, 2024
Now that we’re out, can Vive le Velo make a comeback? @Vannieuwkerke 😄😄😄
– Lot (@skimpy) July 1, 2024
Well, we can finally scrap the entire Sporza frame around the European Championship and give us Vive le Vélo. #Frabel
– Wallays Emil (@E_Wallays) July 1, 2024
Now let Martin make/do Vive Le Vélo there, he’s doing a great job! 👌🏼🤩#allcontent #TDF2024#vivifellow

I totally agree. Chaos. @sporza @VRT @fdelaplace @Vannieuwkerke
The real “vive le velo” is much better than this. It is incomprehensible that the cycling festival has been postponed.– Frank Vanminen (@frankvanminen) June 30, 2024
Long live Le Velo. This is a VRT program, not a one-man show. Broadcast it in the evenings when there is football, for example on Ketnet, and the next day as usual during the day it is repeated on Én. Travel lovers will surely agree.

no one:
Really no one:
Karl Vannieuwkerke: Let’s do a little “live le vélo” during the first half of a football match.#Euro2024 #sporza
– Popilcar (@nomorebadpeople) June 30, 2024
Another VLV presenter that Karl doesn’t let his big ego get in the way of.
– Josiane (@JosianeDha44483) July 1, 2024
No Vive le Vélo should not be broadcast without the dictator.
— Grace2408☮️ (@Graceland2408) June 30, 2024
Simply because Karl doesn’t want to give up anything. Give football to someone else and do Vive le velo properly. 😪
