Apple as the “gatekeeper” must comply with the new European rules before March 7. So it sets up two different variants of the App Store.

according to Bloomberg Apple is working on the final details of compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) as a gatekeeper. Europe forced Apple to open its App Store by allowing, among other things, side-loading on iPhone and iPad models. On Mac, this wasn't a problem at all.

It works on a specific version of the App Store for Europe that is different from the rest of the world. The deadline for the project is March 7, after which fines will be issued by Europe.

Last week, Tim Cook had an appointment with Margrethe Vestager, the European Union's antitrust chief. There again raised the need to allow “side loading”.

The goal is to give developers the ability to promote their offerings outside of the App Store. In addition, they should also be given the opportunity to use external payment systems.

Europe previously required every electronic device to have a USB-C connection. For this reason, Apple has, for the first time, abandoned its Lightning connector in favor of USB-C for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models.

Apple has also been designated as a gatekeeper by the European Union for the Safari browser and iOS. It is not yet clear how Apple will comply with the new rules. Apple argued for exceptions to European rules at the end of last year, but it appears to agree across the board.
