OpenAI has shut down a network of Iranian ChatGPT accounts that allegedly tried to influence the US presidential election. The accounts are said to be generating inflammatory articles and social media posts.

This isn’t the first time OpenAI has reported on such an influence operation. In May, the company discovered similar campaigns from four countries, including Iran, that primarily produced fake news about the wars in Ukraine and Gaza and elections in India.
