BasketAnd on Wednesday evening, Ostend crowned itself the Belgian Basketball League champion for the 22nd time in the club’s history and for the tenth time in a row.
In the fourth match of the final, they defeated Bergen 62-69, achieving the result in this final, which played for the best of five, can not be crossed 1-3 in favor of the coastal team. Success coach Dario Gergeja led Ostend to win the 10th consecutive title in the EuroMillions Basketball League, the top Belgian men’s basketball team. “I am especially happy for the players, because I have a good group with an excellent mixture of experience and youth. However, I did not think that we would become champions ten times in a row,” Gergeja said after winning 62-69 in Bergen. “But I think we deserve that title.”
Loïc Schwartz became the best player in the final after a great season. Previously, he was named Player of the Year and Best Player in the Cup Final. “This is my best season ever,” the door opened. “I’ve worked for years for this and I’m glad we were able to finish it here in Bergen without needing that fifth match.”
