Jack Grealish (28), a teammate of De Bruyne and Doku at Manchester City, is still amazed by the burglary at his home last week. While he was in the square on Wednesday evening, those close to him were forced to hide when thieves stormed the palace. Jewelry worth more than one million euros was stolen. “This is a traumatic experience.”
Jack Grealish and his girlfriend Sasha Attwood moved into a villa in Cheshire just before Christmas. In the 24-hectare country house, which costs more than six million euros, Sascha invited his family on Wednesday evening to watch the Manchester City vs. Everton match on television. Grealish was on the pitch for ninety minutes.
The group, including Grealish's parents, grandmother, two sisters and brother, watched the match on the ground floor, according to The Sun. Until suddenly they heard strange noises upstairs and the dogs started barking. A gang of burglars crawled over the fence – which Grealish had installed immediately after he moved in -, bypassed the expanded security system and entered the house. Sasha and his colleagues ran into the room and locked themselves in it. The police were alerted via the emergency button. But that did not stop the thieves from looting. They reportedly stole watches and jewelery worth more than €1 million. Security forces urged neighbors to stay in their homes and used a helicopter to search for the perpetrators, to no avail.
Grealish, a teammate of Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku at City, was informed immediately after the final whistle and rushed to the dressing room and then home.
“Police were called at around 9.50pm on Wednesday 27 December to reports of a burglary,” Cheshire Police wrote in a statement. “Things have been closed. Officers supported by sniffer dogs and the National Police Air Service have been deployed. The area has been combed. But there has been no trace of the suspects. No arrests have been made so far and the investigation is currently ongoing.”
A source told The Sun: “The whole family was downstairs cheering for Jack.” “Fortunately no one was injured, but there was panic. Everyone was terrified because they were so weak. This was the first time the family had visited the new home. When they heard dogs barking and people crawling, the panic alarm was pressed. The emergency unit responded immediately “Several police cars were deployed, then a helicopter, because the police initially thought the matter might be a hostage.”
According to The Sun newspaper, the police are investigating whether the perpetrators had been in the house before. The thieves knew exactly where the safe and the chip containing the jewelry were located. An investigation is underway into whether there is a link to Tajdid company employees who have been working at the home in recent weeks.
Grealish: “A painful experience”
Grealish first responded to the robbery yesterday. 2023 ended badly for him and his family. “I cannot express how upset I am about this,” Grealish wrote on Instagram. “My family means the world to me and nothing is more important than their safety. This is a traumatic experience for all of us. I am so grateful that no one was hurt. To be honest, I don’t feel like I can celebrate the best year of my football career right now. The people who are committing these crimes They have no idea what they are doing to people. We hope they are found and brought to justice so no other family goes through this.
