Last weekend, German police collected a large sum of money in a truck crossing the Dutch-German border. In a heavy chest, hidden among other things, the officers found 1 million euros in cash.
around 21:30 On Saturday evening, they stopped a delivery truck with a Hungarian number plate coming from the Netherlands. This happened at the Gildehaus exit of the A30 motorway, across the border in De Lutte in the Netherlands.
Prior to this, officers had been chasing the truck for some time, police spokesman Ralf Loening told German newspaper Bild. “They were sure from the start that they would find something in the truck.” During a vehicle search in an industrial area, a 31 kilo box was found. It contained a million euros in cash.
Colleagues had to dig deep. “The money was hidden among other boxes in different plastic bags,” the spokesman said.
The 55-year-old Hungarian driver is suspected of money laundering. The money was confiscated and the judiciary in Germany is investigating its source.
