After Brooklyn, Portland also won the scalp of Indiana in the NBA on Friday night. The Trail Blazers beat the Pacers, where newcomer Pascal Siakam made his debut, 118-115. In Portland, Toumani Kamara had to settle for the substitute position for the second game in a row, scoring 4 points and grabbing 4 rebounds.
After 29 straight games in the starting lineup, Toumani Kamara had to start off the bench again in Portland on Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets. “There was a need for a change,” Blazers coach Chauncey Billups explained afterward. Kamara also missed the starting lineup Friday night against Indiana.
Portland had an excellent performance against the Pacers, as newcomer Pascal Siakam (who came from Toronto) made his debut. The Blazers led 64-53 at halftime and did not give up this lead in a thrilling finale: 118-115. Jerami Grant was Portland's star with 37 points.
Thus, the Blazers team recorded their second victory in a row, and the twelfth in total, but they remain in the fourteenth and penultimate place in the Western Conference. Only San Antonio Spurs French phenom Victor Wimpanyama is performing worse with 7 wins from 41 games.
Toumani Kamara eventually played 19 minutes, scored 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. His rivals at the small forward position, Jabari Walker and Matisse Thybulle, started the game and performed excellently. Walker was good for a double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds).
In the confrontation between Boston, the leader of the Eastern Conference, and champion Denver, it was the Nuggets who came out on top on Friday night. Jamal Murray (35 points) and Nikola Jokic (34 points) helped Denver win by a narrow margin of 102-100.
Devin Booker had another great day in Phoenix. He led the Suns with 52 points to a 123-109 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, led by Zion Williamson. Phoenix is currently only eighth in the West.
