FamousThe young cast of The OC, the popular teen series that aired between 2003 and 2007, wasn’t always perfect. Actress Rachel Bilson (39) apologized for this Tuesday when she hosted former series actor and director Tate Donovan (57) on her podcast. Colleague Misha Barton, 35, said in another interview that she was bullied on the set.
“You’d be directing us at some point,” Bilson told Donovan, who was in the first two seasons of ‘The O.C’. He played the role of Jimmy Cooper. “And I know we can be little rascals. If at any point I’m guilty, I want to formally apologize to you.”
Donovan said in an interview a few years ago that it wasn’t easy to direct the young actors. “They didn’t want to do this show anymore,” he said in Vulture at the time. “I know how to work with young actors, I was once. If I’m successful you want to do more. Someone even said to me,” This show is ruining my movie career. “You played in a movie! But if you are young and successful, you quickly start to think your career will go quickly.”
An unsafe work environment
Donovan and Belson can now laugh at their pasts. The actor seemed to accept apologies: “We all get carried away sometimes when there is such a commotion,” he told his former co-worker.
Actress Misha Barton, 35, who played Marisa for three seasons, said in another interview that she was bullied on the set of the series. “Because of this I finally left early,” she confessed to E! News. “Some people were very mean to me. It wasn’t an ideal work environment for a sensitive young girl who was struggling with the fallout of stardom anyway. At the time the paparazzi were stalking me too and that made me feel insecure everywhere.”
