Today, a wonderful advertisement of Sky Sports appeared on British television in which they wish viewers a Merry Christmas, but not everyone is happy about this, as it turned out.
With the holidays approaching, they wanted to make a commercial on Sky to wish everyone a happy birthday, but the ad didn’t get a warm welcome from F1 fans and teams.
The ad uses images of the plane crash between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton at this year’s Silverstone. Hamilton put Verstappen in the tire wall there during the opening stage of the race, after which the Dutchman had to go to hospital for a medical. The Mercedes driver escaped a ten-second time penalty.
A Red Bull Racing spokesperson told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf: “We are extremely disappointed to use images of a crash where someone had to go to hospital.”
Red Bull Racing has confirmed to ‘GPBlog’ that Sky will be taking the ad offline. The ad is still circulating on social media.
Happy birthday Max 🙂 Greetings from Sky F1 ✨ pic.twitter.com/YEDpQUHJDU
