Florian Kauffeldt was fed up. Just before the start of the qualifiers, he tendered his resignation to KAS Eupen.
The 4-0 defeat to Standard was too much to bear. KAS Eupen coach Florian Kauffeldt will tender his resignation immediately from the club, Eupen announced via its official channels.
“After KAS Eupen's match against Standard Liège, Florian Kofeldt informed the team and the coaching staff of his immediate dismissal from his position as head coach. In a meeting with management, he requested his resignation for sporting and personal reasons. KAS Eupen regrets this step, but respects his wishes,” Eupen said.
KAS Eupen is currently ranked 14th in the world rankings. The club has to play in the relegation play-offs and Kuhfeldt clearly doesn't feel like it. The club can now look for a new coach who will ensure Eupen remains in the top flight.
Kohfeldt himself responded briefly. “I would like to thank the team, employees, management and workers of KAS Eupen for the very good cooperation!”
“I hope that this move will give the team an extra boost to make the playoffs and that our joint work will be rewarded at the end of the season! I congratulate AS,” the statement read.
