After his horrific fall in the Tour of Lombardy on August 15, 2020 on the Moro di Sormano, Remco Evenepoel’s career and life were hanging by a thread.
In his latest YouTube post, Evenepoel explains how he visited the scene of the disaster the day after the final edition of the classic novel.
He is accompanied by his wife, Umi. The couple noticed that traces of his pedals were still in the wall. “It’s deep, isn’t it,” the pair sigh.
“How do I feel now? Nothing special. It’s not too bad,” Evenepoel says to his wife. “That’s when you realize how lucky you were,” Omi adds.
“It feels a bit strange to be back here,” Evenepoel says, sitting against the wall.
“I wouldn’t say I’m really emotional, because I already gave it a place. But of course it’s not the nicest feeling. It brings back bad memories and pain.”
“But it’s good to close this chapter. That’s why we’re here to recover 100 percent from this,” he added.
Exploring the Tour of Lombardy, race day, dinner with family and some team members after the race (on the couple’s wedding anniversary): it’s all covered in the episode.
