MusicBritain’s Charlie Watts (80) will not tour the United States with the Rolling Stones. The drummer has undergone a medical procedure and needs to rest.
In a statement, Stones said, “Charlie had surgery which was completely successful. But his doctors have concluded that he now needs rest to recover. Rehearsals (for the tour) will start in a few weeks, so it’s very disappointing, but no one saw this coming.”
Charlie himself said, “For once my timing isn’t quite right. I’m working really hard to get back in shape again, but I have to take the expert advice: it’s going to take a while. Now that all our fans have been through with Covid, I don’t want to disappoint Rowling fans.” Stone got a ticket for this tour by postponing or canceling a show. That’s why I asked my good friend Steve Jordan to replace me.”
For the tour, Charlie will be replaced by Steve Jordan, who has already worked on Keith Richards’ solo albums. He was also part of the live bands for the TV shows “Saturday Night Live” and “Late Night with David Letterman”.
