Sunny was starting her cycling season this weekend. The Belgian champion will be at the start of Berencross in Meulebeke on Saturday, and will ride the Superprestige in Gieten on Sunday. He couldn’t really look forward to it: “I’m glad we’re now racing with the crowd again.”
“I’m looking forward to this new season. I’m glad we’re now racing with the crowd again,” Sanne Cant shares. “During the first matches, the absence of spectators did not bother me much, but gradually I began to miss the fans a little.”
“I think I’m ready for the new season. I had a good summer. Preparations went as planned. We were able to ride beautiful races with the road team.”
I discovered a new Sanne in road racing, with good racing.
The Belgian champion rode in the field spring races like the Tour of Flanders. “I loved that per se,” she says. “This way I can taste the highest level in women’s cycling.”
“I also discovered a new Sanne in road racing. I had been driving the same road racing for 10 years, but kind of opened up a new world with the team road team. I also worked myself a bit more towards the sprint, which is a good feature I discovered in myself.”
Unable to win the Belgian title again last season.
“Fighting on the podium after two bad seasons”
Sanne Cant has had good preparations. Do you continue this line in the field? “It’s hard to say. I know I’ve had two really bad seasons.”
“Hopefully this is over now and I can once again compete for the podiums,” I can’t look at her cards. “If not, this is a disappointment and the end of my career could be near.”
“The Belgian championship remains ambitious anyway. It would be strange not to wear this shirt. We are really going to have a very special season, especially now that the number of crosses has increased in the World Cup.”
