“Charmed” follows the story of the three Halliwell sisters who discover they are witches. The main roles were played by Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs (50), and Shannen Doherty – who also directed several episodes. After three seasons, the latter suddenly disappeared from the series.
Doherty thought on her podcast “Let's Be Clear with Shannen Doherty” in December last year that it wasn't her choice. Combs, who appeared as a guest, claimed that a producer told her at the time that either Doherty or Milano had to leave because there was a falling out between the two. Milano is said to have given an ultimatum and was eventually allowed to stay.
Milano denied the allegations on Instagram and also during a panel at MegaCon on February 2. “I am deeply saddened that a show that meant so much to so many people was ruined by toxicity that persists to this day,” he said. “And I'm sad that people can't leave it behind. And I'm sad that we can't all celebrate the success of the show that means so much to all of us.”
Two days later, Doherty responded to Milano's denial during another panel at MegaCon. Doherty, who is being treated for breast cancer, said and apologized if she was “at this point in my life, as I fight horrific diseases every day, it is extremely important for me to tell the truth, rather than the story that others give me.” It made her cry. “There is no rewriting of history here,” she said of her previous statements.
