The cargo ship Felicity Ice, which is burning and drifting in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the Azores, has 1,100 Porsches and 189 Bentleys on board. That New York Times reports. The Portuguese authorities rescued, Thursday, the crew of the ship that sailed under the flag of Panama.

According to the American newspaper, the ship was on its way from the German port of Emden to Davisville in the United States. Stunning photos from the Portuguese Coast Guard show crew members being pulled out of the nearly 200-meter-long burning vessel by helicopter. No one was injured in the “physically demanding” operation.
It is unclear whether the ship’s cargo should be considered lost. According to the New York Times, Volkswagen has confirmed that there are 4,000 vehicles on board the ship. A spokesman for the US subsidiary of Porsche confirmed that 1,100 Porsche cars were involved and that “the fate of the cars is unknown”. There will also be 189 Bentleys aboard the Felicity ES.
US customers who are concerned about ordering their vehicles are advised to contact their dealer. The shipping company cannot be reached for comment. American newspaper NBC News reported that the shipping company is looking for a suitable tug, but given the size of the ship it is unlikely that it will be towed to the Azores.
