Sierra Online co-founders Roberta and Ken Williams are working on a new game for the first time in 20 years. The pair are working on a remake of the text-adventure game Colossal Cave.
Roberta and Ken tell in A Interview More about the new Colossal Cave with PC Gamer. The original is from 1976 and was created by Don Woods and Will Crowther when Sierra Online didn’t exist yet. There is a game Colossal Cave 3D Based onbut unlike the original it does not contain only text.
In the game, players can explore a large underground cave filled with dwarves, trolls, dragons and monsters. The developers want it to be a game suitable for the whole family. The game must also be playable in virtual reality. It is not yet clear when the game will be released.
Roberta and Ken started making a new game because they got bored during the lockdowns. The two have not been involved in game development for over twenty years. The pair founded studio Sierra Online in 1979, which later became Sierra Entertainment and eventually merged into Activision Blizzard. The Williams couple haven’t shared a studio since the 1990s.
