Slovakia, the Red Devils’ first opponent in the group stage of the European Championship, already knows where the target is. They were allowed to show it less than two weeks before the start of Euro 2024 in a training match against football dwarf San Marino: 4-0.
The Red Devils have already proven in 2019 that scoring against San Marino, last in the FIFA rankings, is not a big challenge, as they won two European Championship qualifiers by scores of 9-0 and 0-4.
Slovakia, a European Championship contender, did not have to expect much resistance from the soccer dwarf. It was a particularly good test of the instincts of the Slovak avant-garde.
After just over 10 minutes, the San Marino goalkeeper had cleared two balls from his goal. In the middle, Slovakia also hit the woodwork three times. So shooting exercises.
However, Slovakia had some difficulty scoring after that. Haraslin, who had already hit the post, was able to make it 3-0 after half an hour. After halftime, David Strelec put the final score on the board.
This is the first victory for the Slovaks in their training program at the European Championship. In March they lost to Austria and tied to Norway.
Wales’ last test will be on Sunday before the start of the European Championship in Germany. They will play their opening match against the Red Devils there on Monday, June 17 (6pm kick-off).
