Sonos Considers Bringing Back an Old Version of Its App – Image & Sound – News

Sonos is considering bringing back the old version of its mobile app. Back in May, the app was redesigned, which led to a number of complaints. Users complained about poor performance, stability, and missing features that were present in the old app.

There have been high-level discussions within Sonos about bringing back the old app, known as S2. The Edge Based on anonymous sources. However, it is unclear whether this version will actually return.

Sonos has completely redesigned its mobile apps for Android and iOS with a new interface. The tabs with options have been replaced with a single page with all the options and a search bar that is always visible. There’s also a new music player in the picture. When you swipe, customers are taken to a list of speakers.

Complaints about the new app quickly surfaced. Not only are some features missing from previous versions of the app, but there are also some “persistent” bugs that haven’t been caught during testing. This can happen primarily with older products and could mean that speakers can no longer be powered up via the app, with Sonos boss Patrick Spence previously saying there are also latency issues and error messages.

Spence apologized for the app in late July and announced a timeline for improvements. The company is focusing first, among other things, on the device-adding feature. Work will begin in August or September to improve the overall stability of the app. Queue and editorial playlist features will follow in October.
