Sony has announced the WF-C510, a set of budget wireless earbuds without active noise cancellation, but with ambient mode. They’re the smallest earbuds Sony has ever made. The earbuds are aimed at people with smaller ears.
The WF-C510 is the successor to the already compact WF-C500 from 2021. Sony says it has made the new earbuds much smaller and lighter, so the earbuds are more stable for people with smaller ears. Additionally, the WF-C510s offer more comfort while wearing, Sony says. The included charging case is also slightly thinner than its predecessor, while the control button on the earbuds has been made slightly wider.
The earbuds should do without a dedicated noise cancellation mode, but they do have an ambient mode. Additionally, the microphones let some ambient noise through, so users can listen to music without completely cutting themselves off. Users can also activate an “Audio Focus” option to amplify nearby sounds and mute the rest.
Sony says the earbuds have up to eleven hours of battery life. A five-minute charge in the charging case provides another hour of listening time. In total, the case can fully charge both earbuds at once.
The WF-C510 connects to up to two Bluetooth devices at the same time and, in addition to stereo music, can also handle 360 Reality Audio. The earphones have an IPX4 rating and are therefore splash-proof. The new earphones will be available from September and cost €69.
