VIANEN • Grid operator Stedin, developer HVBM Vastgoed and the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden started construction of a new distribution center for Stedin in Vianen on Friday, April 19.

Due to the renewal of the electricity grid, the grid operator needs more materials and therefore also needs space to store them. With this new distribution center, Stedin doubles its warehouse space at once to 60,000 square metres. Steden is expected to begin using the building in mid-2025.

Need more space
CFO Danny Benema from Stedin: “Stedin is busy expanding the electricity network and therefore needs a much larger logistics space to store all the necessary materials. From bolts to entire transformers. With this new distribution center, we will soon have more inventory and can deliver it to the construction site faster.” This way we ensure increased security of supply and that our technicians can continue to work efficiently on strengthening and expanding our electricity network.”

4000 different types of materials
The new distribution center is located in the De Biezen industrial park in Vianen, where Stedin has a long-term lease on the building from HVBM Vastgoed. The business park is located a stone's throw from where the A2 and A27 motorways intersect and a few minutes from the A12 and A28 motorways.

The distribution center will soon have an area of 34,000 square meters to store nearly 4,000 different types of materials. HVBM Vastgoed is developing Stedin's new distribution center based on “excellent” BREEAM-NL New Construction guidelines. Stedin has allocated a budget of €50 million for its new distribution centre.
