Halsterien – Anouk from Halsterien, married to Kevin van den Berg and mother to her adorable daughter Vinnie (age 10), has been an MS fighter since October 2017! She was diagnosed with MS when she was 27 and her world was turned upside down. “I had difficulty walking and my legs were dragging, but I never expected MS to be the diagnosis,” says Anouk. “But I soon learned… Put your shoulders on the wheel and fight! Be strong, keep moving,” says Anouk. Create moments of pleasure and don’t give up.
Medications can slow MS. “Okay, we’ll do it,” Anouk said. “The treatment immediately started suppressing my MS, because unfortunately it is not yet possible to cure MS. This kept my MS stable for a while. Until I slowly started to notice changes again. My body deteriorated. It happens doesn’t it?! Confirmation came with the next MRI scan. New inflammation in the brain and spinal cord could be seen, oh no!. The current medication was no longer able to keep the MS stable, so I switched to another medication that reduced function “Walking without aids is becoming increasingly difficult, and I have to use a wheelchair on trips with my family,” says Anouk.
interesting
This year I read about the Mollii prosthesis, a neuromodulation prosthesis that can reduce spasms and improve balance and walking ability using electrodes. ‘interesting! I wondered: Could it be something for me?
“I will make an appointment at the end of April to try on the suit,” explains Anouk van den Berg. “Different tests are done during the appointment. The Mollii suit is then allowed to do its work for 60 minutes and then goes through the same tests again. Wow… what a difference! It looks all Something smoother, more stable and using less power I recorded videos and put them side by side to compare, before and after stimulating the suit.
miracle
Since she could only experience the effects in the tests here, she decided to rent the suit for 10 days so that she could experience what the suit could do for her in daily life. The suit must be worn for 60 minutes every two days. “I immediately said ok, let’s go! I wonder if the Mollii suit could surprise me more. And yes, the suit definitely knows that! I was able to walk 300 meters (consecutive) on the first day without any aid or support from my husband. And in the following days I’ve been able to do some work in the garden. I’ve been able to walk around town, something I was last able to do six years ago. I sit regularly in between, but the recovery is also much faster with the help of this suit. It really feels like a miracle!
My cramps were non-existent, my balance was great…I felt good, energetic and strong. “I feel like myself again!” said a very happy Anouk.
Conclusion
Her family saw it too. “My daughter who says to my husband: ‘Oh my God, my mother ate some pepper! She keeps moving forward! This comment deserves gold and makes me stronger. Being able to walk next to my family, hand in hand with my husband and daughter. radiant! Pride! I didn’t have to be pushed in a wheelchair. This allows me to finally be the mom I want to be! Conclusion: I don’t want to miss this Mollii suit anymore!
Support campaign
Unfortunately, Mollii’s suit has not been replaced and costs €9,000. Anouk van den Berg is asking for help with this campaign: “Something I don’t normally do, but this suit is worth it! Who wants to help me feel energetic, strong, radiant and good again, so I can be the woman and mother I want to be? Really grateful if you can share my message so that as many people as possible can finally read and hear my story, of course, I also hope that with your help I can reach the target amount I wanted from six years ago! Never stop fighting!”
The offer runs until June 30, 2024.
