For three years now, Union SG has been an indispensable presence at the top of Belgian football. With the cup win over Royal Antwerp, the first trophy became a reality.
There will be discussions in the coming weeks about the new competition format for the Jupiler Pro League. Brussels FC CEO Philippe Bormans backs up some of the other top clubs’ points, but not when it comes to the number of matches.
The halving of points may be abolished for the Bormans. “We believe that preconditions, such as the number of losers or the number of professional clubs, are as important as the form,” he told Het Laatste Nieuws.

As for the rest, the club does not have a strong opinion. “We’ve heard that a number of teams think we play too many games. We’ve played almost the most games in the last two seasons (57 games last year, 58 this year, ed.), but we don’t mind that.
Bormann has good reason for this. The reform of European competitions will have serious consequences for Belgian teams.
