The PlayStation VR2 headset can be connected to a PC starting August 7 to access SteamVR games. Sony will provide the necessary adapter starting August 7. From that day on, players can start playing games like Half-Life: Alyx and Fallout 4 VR.
The PS VR2 adapter will be available on August 7 for $60. Gamers need a DisplayPort cable compatible with DisplayPort 1.4. also Sony reports A Steam account is required. Sony’s Tempest 3D Audio technology is not available on PC. Instead, SteamVR’s own audio technology is used. Getting started with the PlayStation VR2 headset on PC requires a build that meets the minimum requirements.
To use PlayStation VR2 headsets on a PC, a system with at least an Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 processor with Zen 2 architecture or later is required. The video card must be an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 or later with Turing Architecture or later. AMD GPUs include at least the Radeon RX 5500 XT or RX 6500XT. In addition, at least 8 GB of RAM is required and the system must have at least Bluetooth 4.0.
Using the adapter and DisplayPort cable, PlayStation VR2 glasses can be connected to a computer. Users need to download the PlayStation VR2 app and SteamVR app to adjust PS VR2 settings on PC. It is possible, among other things, to set the play area, start a game and purchase games. The adapter is available in “select stores” and online PlayStation Direct.
