The Arlbergstraße (B197) over the Arlbergpass, an important transport link in Austria, will be open again as of this evening. This means that the road, which was previously partially closed due to emergency repairs following mudslides, can now be used day and night again.
Closed after mudslides
In recent days, motorists have had to take major detours due to damage to the Arlberg Pass. The damage was caused by a mudslide that made parts of the road impassable. Part of the road was washed away after heavy rain fell from the sky last weekend.
Arlbergpass is open again
In recent days, the road was only open to traffic in the evening and at night. We worked hard to restore the road to full capacity as soon as possible. The construction companies carrying out the construction work carried out the necessary repairs in record time. Now the road can be reopened earlier than planned. The rubble was removed with heavy artillery and the road was repaired.
Critical traffic situation
According to the authorities, the rapid repair of Arlbergstraße was necessary to prevent further traffic problems. Especially in view of the large number of vehicles during the summer. The authorities involved worked closely to ensure that the road was safe and fully usable again for all road users. With the reopening of Arlbergstraße, traffic in the area is expected to improve significantly. The road will be fully operational again from 6 p.m.
