Helpper, a Belgian startup that connects people seeking help with people willing to help, has launched a new app that should provide practical assistance to people with disabilities.
Helpper is a healthcare startup that wants to catalyze the sharing economy around people who ask for help (often elderly or people with disabilities) and people in their environment who want to provide that help.
A new app from the organization, created in collaboration with DashDot, should quickly and efficiently match “helpers” with people in their area who are seeking assistance.
“Assistant users can create a detailed profile via the app and enter their availability and experience accurately,” says Marika Bain, product owner at Helpper, in a press release. “Because they can choose which tasks they do or don’t want to do, they only receive relevant help requests. This increases the quality of the match. Additionally, we vet all assistants to ensure a safe and reliable service.”
Since the app was launched, more than 1,800 helpers in Flanders have signed up to help in their neighbourhood. “By engaging helpers through the sharing economy for informal or hands-on help, we are relieving pressure on the overburdened healthcare sector,” says Leslie Flerick, CEO of Helpper. The app is available on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
