The CIA shared the video entirely in Russian on its social media platforms. The main character is a 35-year-old Russian woman. The man works in Russian military intelligence and presents himself as a nationalist who loves his country very much. But as the video progresses, the man realizes that Russia is corrupt. “Chiefs have sold the land for palaces and hunting, while our soldiers have to eat rotten potatoes and shoot prehistoric weapons,” he says.
Moments later, the man explains how his patriotism motivated him to work for the CIA. “People around you may not want to hear the truth, but we do. “You are not helpless,” it sounds like at the end of the video.
This is not the first time the CIA has tried to recruit Russian spies. The Secret Service launched the campaign in May and distributed a similar video.
The Kremlin certainly does not seem bothered by American propaganda. “Someone needs to let the CIA know about this.”Russian Platform, ed.) VKontakte is more popular here than the banned X and has a much larger audience,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov quips.
