Jeep is officially announcing what was already likely: the electric Jeep Wagoneer S will appear in 2024. It's all-electric, clearly different from its nameless 'S', and will likely come to Europe.
The Wagoneer S has already been discussed in 2022, as part of four new electric vehicles coming from Jeep. The first of these four was the Avenger, the compact Jeep we now know so well in Europe. This does not apply to the rest of the world, because the Avenger is not available in America, for example. There, the first electric Jeep will be the Wagoneer S. This is a much larger SUV, although not as large as the regular Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. These are competitors to the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and they are true beasts. The Wagoneer S seems to appeal to a more international audience.
Although the Jeep Wagoneer S has undeniable similarities to the regular Wagoneer, it's also very different at the same time. For example, the split front panel now shows that the “S” hood – the name by which the electric vehicle is referred to – does not connect directly to the network, whereas this is the case with regular models. The network itself is also interesting. On the electric Wagoneer, the fence is closed, but lighting makes the seven vertical elements more visible than on a conventionally powered Jeep. In the previous post, the car was also shown from other angles (see photo gallery), although it has not yet reached its final form.
The fact that the Wagoneer S is different and smaller confirms that Jeep sees a role outside of North America. Does Europe belong there? We don't know this officially yet, but Jeep Netherlands also shared this image and some preliminary information. Jeep states power outputs of up to 600 horsepower and a 0-100 time of 3.5 seconds. Furthermore, unlike the Avenger, the Wagoneer should be a true Jeep when it comes to off-road capabilities. So just dive in, whether it's electric or not.
