This weekend, Formula 3 will complete the sixth of seven scheduled rounds Zandvoort. In the original calendar of the class, the season finale was scheduled for October 22-24 around the United States in Austin. With that, F3 is coming to the US for the first time, but that is not going to happen.
It was announced to the teams that this weekend’s Grand Prix weekend in the Netherlands would end at the Sochi Autodrome. Formula 3 will support Formula 1 there. The company made this choice due to changes in logistics. This has had a significant impact on the cost of freight to the United States. This made it possible to race to F3 in the United States, so the season final will now take place in Russia between September 24 and 26.
“This calendar change has been accepted by all involved due to unavoidable logistics changes, which will have a significant impact on the overall cost of the F3 event planned in Austin,” the championship statement read. “The F3 advertiser confirms that both Formula 2 and Formula 3 will run three races during the event in Sochi.”
In Formula 3 Austin will be with the W Series as a support program for Formula 1 racing. So the F3 did not come, but the W Series still mentioned that it had the intention of betting on the American circuit.
