The son of the famous pastor, Martin Luther King III, landed in a procession. He warned that many states “have enacted laws that make it very difficult to vote.” Participants in Monday’s march noted the demands laid down by Martin Luther King, Jr., for more than sixty years. “What do we need? Voting! When do we need it? Now! ” Chanted.
Many also took pictures of the leader of the African American civil rights movement. They carried away his famous 1957 appeal to the government to respect the voting rights of African Americans across the country, saying, “Give us the ballot.”
The rally is currently expressing support for federal election law reform before the Senate. He was approved by the House of Representatives last week. There is a fierce political struggle going on over the law. President Joe Biden believes reform is necessary to protect American democracy. A series of laws recently passed at the local level are blocking the votes of minorities, who have traditionally been more inclined towards Democrats.
