The photos below prove that Italo Ferreira is a champion in his community. After taking a gold medal in surfing, the residents of Baia Formosa (in northeastern Brazil) took to the streets honking their horns. It’s 4 a.m. local time.
Ferrera was also allowed to win the games, but he has come a long way to the top. The 27-year-old Brazilian was raised in a poor fishing family. He was soon bitten by a surf bug, but his parents weren’t so lucky.
His father could not even buy a skateboard, so little Italo had to improvise. He ended up using a styrofoam covering to brave the waves of the South Atlantic.
“I believe this gold medal is an inspiration to those who have to come from afar, who have dreams and who seize every opportunity in life,” Italo Ferreira told Brazil’s Globoesport.
“When you go through hardships, you have more will, more determination. It was no different with me. Dani Alves is an example to me. He has conquered the world, as I do now.”
“Like some athletes who have incredible stories of overcoming difficulties. Athletes who use those tough moments as fuel.”
By the way, Dani Alves is also active in Tokyo with the Brazilian Olympic football team. Celebrate the gold medal on the bus with teammates.
Italo Ferreira is also at home in all markets. After taking the gold, he jumped off the podium with a backflip.
