The footballers lost after a United States penalty

The Dutch footballers lost to the United States in the quarterfinals. As the score was 2-2 after extra time, a penalty was needed to determine the game. Vivian Midema and Anik Nuen missed, while the American players made no mistake.

The Netherlands started the game well. The best scorer of the match, Vivian Maidema, returned to the American penalty area in the 18th minute and opened the scoring with a goal. However, before the break, the United States thanked Samantha Mavis and Lynn Williams for their success.
