televisionThe makers of the French version of “Expedition Robinson” stand in the participants' gap. The new season is only in its third episode, but the participants are already receiving a lot of criticism on social media. And TF1 is not happy about that. “We will not tolerate hate messages towards participants.”
Two participants in “Koh-Lanta: les Chasseurs d'immunités” – as the program is called there – are having a hard time online. Alicia was eliminated in the third episode due to her direct and uncaring attitude, especially towards her fellow candidates. This situation causes a wave of online backlash, putting her in the eye of the storm. X and others say: “Alicia is the most infuriating girl in the entire Koh-Lanta series. She was voted Most Misbehaved Character of the Year.” “If she doesn’t like people and has such an attitude, she shouldn’t participate in ‘Koh-Lanta’.”
But the opposite happens with participant William. He has just arrived on the uninhabited island, but he can return home immediately. The viewer does not agree to this deletion. Other participants are blamed by viewers and therefore also become the target of online criticism.
The filmmakers were tired of the many negative reactions towards the participants. They are sounding the alarm on social media. “Important reminder: Koh-Lanta is an entertainment program that we all enjoy commenting on,” the message read. “But we want to remind you how important it is to do this in a spirit of kindness and respect for everyone. We do not tolerate hate messages toward participants. Thank you.”
