No, this is not an April Fool's joke. Slayer played their last show on November 30, 2019, but now they're already back. The band has just announced that they will be playing at US festivals Louder Than Life and Riot Fest this year.
Not long ago, Slayer announced that they were quitting for good. A final tour followed, ending on November 30, 2019. The band played perhaps harder than ever on their final tour, and bid an emotional farewell. The recent performance at Graspop 2019 with the emotional Tom Araya was legendary.
However, the gentlemen are now suddenly announcing two shows at the end of September in the United States. Frontman Tom Araya Let him know Nothing compares to 90 minutes of playing a live set. And they really missed sharing that intense energy during live shows. Guitarist Kerry King adds that he also misses playing live greatly, and that the band means a lot to the fans. Which also means a lot to the band.
The gentlemen seem to be looking forward to it. No other offers have been announced at this time. But as Araya and King put it, this appears to be only a matter of time.
