The KNVB Licensing Committee wanted to provide space for Vitesse in view of the start of the Kitchen Champion division. The first division league begins on August 9.

A Licensing Commission spokesman said: “Vitesse can appeal, and there must be room for that. This cannot be arranged in a couple of days. This will take some time, and then it will slowly creep towards August 9.” “We met on Monday to assess whether the club is able to start the competition. We are there to ensure the continuity of the competition and that is why clubs must have a balanced budget.”

According to the spokesman, the rules of the licensing regulations stipulate that there must be a period of two weeks between the announcement of withdrawal and the actual withdrawal. For this reason, the license will be canceled on July 9.

According to the Dutch Football Association, it is still too early to think about which club will replace Vitesse in the top flight. A spokesman for the Dutch Football Association said: “Vitesse can still appeal and retain the licence. This will only be considered if it is permanently revoked. Scenarios are being prepared behind the scenes.”

Vitesse indicated that he would appeal, and according to the club, the case will be heard in approximately two weeks.
