There won’t be many people who will reach 400,000 kilometres in their car. Not consciously anyway, because obviously there are a lot of imported cars in the Netherlands with low mileage. But it’s good to know that you have a car that can do a lot of mileage, because then you know that it will at least reach two or three tonnes. Statistically speaking then.
American ISeeCars He researched cars that are most likely to go 250,000 miles, or about 400,000 kilometers. Because this is a U.S. survey, the list is dominated by American models that we don’t have here, like big pickup trucks or big SUVs. But fortunately, there are also models that are in showrooms here. What’s more, there’s one car company that stands out above the rest.

Toyota cars last twice as long as average.
According to research, a Toyota is twice as likely to reach 250,000 miles as an average car brand. Apparently, there’s a 17 percent chance that someone in the U.S. will drive a Toyota for 250,000 miles. Honda comes in second with a 13.6 percent chance. Ram (11.5 percent), GMC (11.4 percent) and Chevrolet (10.5 percent) follow. Then we see the popular brands here too: Lexus (9.7 percent) and Ford (9.5 percent).
What about sedans?
Let’s skip the pickup truck and SUV list and look at the sedans. The Toyota Avalon — a large sedan we don’t know here — is four times more likely than the average car to reach 400,000 miles. At least 22 percent of cars do that. The Honda Accord is next at 16.6 percent. The Camry will reach 250,000 miles, 2.5 times more likely than the average of 13.5 percent. The Camry Hybrid (which until recently was also delivered in the Netherlands) is 11.4 percent.

Among the most popular cars in the Netherlands, we spotted the Toyota Prius. This hybrid covers more than 400,000 kilometers in 12.6 percent of cases. We also see cars like the Lexus ES (10.6%), Lexus IS (9.0%), Toyota Corolla (7.8%) and Honda Civic (7.2%). We should have bought the stocks before writing this article, because the advice remains: if you want an indestructible car, look for a (used) Toyota or Lexus.
