MOERDIJK – This fall, around a thousand senior citizens from the municipality of Moerdijk could take part in a fall risk test. People over the age of 65 are invited to take the test.

Fall accidents have serious consequences, which are expressed in personal suffering and social health care costs. This is especially the case among older people. The interest in fall prevention is not entirely new in Mordek; in recent years, fitness tests have been organised, autumn training days have been organised (in cooperation with the Kruisvereniging Zevenbergen-Langeweg) and fall prevention courses have been offered in cooperation with PMC Zevenbergen.

The municipality also belongs to the regional chain approach to fall prevention. This approach focuses on seniors aged 65 and over who live at home. First, the municipality tries to identify people who have an increased risk of falling, and then looks at the factors that put you at greater risk. The intention is that seniors who have an increased risk of falling will get help in their neighbourhood and can learn to move around better. If you qualify for the test, you will automatically receive an invitation.
