The Smiths guitarist joins a long line of artists who don't want Donald Trump using their music

The list of musicians who don't want Donald Trump using their music at campaign rallies is long and varied. Adele, Aerosmith, The Beatles, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Ozzy Osbourne, Rihanna, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young and Tom Petty, among others, have previously banned Trump from using their music. Now Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr joins that list. He is both surprised and angry to hear one of the British band's songs at a Trump campaign rally.

On X, formerly Twitter, Marr says he doesn't want Trump to use music from the group again. “Never in a million years did I imagine this would happen,” Marr wrote in a video of a Trump rally. “Please, please, let me get what I want” can be heard clearly.

This is not the first time Mar has spoken negatively about a politician. In 2010, then-British Prime Minister David Cameron said he was a fan of The Smiths. Marr then announced via X that he would stop Cameron from saying he loved the band again.
