The Flemish tax authorities (Vlabel) are warning about a message about “birth trust” that has been circulating on the internet and social media for several months. Flabel asserts that this claim is false.
Thanks to the so-called “birth fund”, the report claims that people are entitled to an inheritance of 1.5 million euros, as a result of which they do not have to pay taxes anymore.
According to the tax authorities, there is no trust in which the insurance company deposits funds. Flabel asserts that these claims are “completely false and completely false.”
Since the Flemish tax authorities have received several such letters in recent months, they warn that this phenomenon is taking on even greater proportions, as in the Netherlands. At least 7,900 of these letters were sent there last year.
Moreover, Vlabel also wants to protect these people from negative consequences, because by not paying taxes (on time), these people risk fines and interest for late payment. Finally, it may also be a form of phishing or fraud because message writers are required to provide all kinds of identity information.
