Japanese automaker Toyota described this electric truck as “our future of mobility.” The angular model name “kayoibako” refers to a sea container. According to Toyota, the truck can be used for almost anything: as a pickup truck, a taxi, a shop on wheels or for a vacation.
The “kayoibako” is a concept car that Toyota wants to unveil next week at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. According to Toyota’s marketing department, it symbolizes the future with “mobility that gives you the freedom to live your life the way you want.” “Everywhere and anytime.”
The rectangular truck is approximately 4 meters long, 1.79 meters wide and 1.86 meters high. The basic interior is stylish, with a load space measuring 3.13 meters deep on a flat overhead panel. With a modular and customizable interior, the truck is multi-functional, according to Toyota, for private and commercial use.
The basic version can serve as a truck. Using modular parts, the interior design can be adapted to everyone’s tastes and preferences. With extra seating you can turn it into a shuttle bus, with display shelves into a mobile shop or you can turn it into a mobile home.
Second windshield
The truck is equipped with sliding doors. According to Autoweek.nl, what particularly catches the eye is the “raised” design, the “coupled” steering wheel with a large display and the second windshield in the straight, slanting section of the front.
Toyota remains mum on concrete production plans for now. According to Elektrec.co, the company has a history of unveiling electric concepts that aren’t going anywhere. So let’s wait and see if we’ll see this truck rolling around soon, or if it will remain a dream.
