This is why Marvel vs. Capcom Collection won’t be coming to Xbox

Xbox owners who love arcade fighters won’t be happy: Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics will not be coming to their console.

The collection of classic fighters was announced during the recent Nintendo Direct event. After the presentation, it became clear that the collection will also be released on PlayStation and PC, but the Xbox logo was nowhere to be seen.

On X The story quickly went that this was due to the use of the Capcom engine. Transferring older titles using the MT Framework driver may cause issues with Xbox. This story has now been confirmed by sources Windows Central.

Capcom will currently have no pipeline to port older MT Framework games to Xbox. So porting games to Xbox will be more expensive than porting them to Switch, PlayStation, and PC. This would also explain why previous announcements also skipped Xbox, such as Monster Hunter Stories and Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection.

marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is a collection of seven classic arcade titles, pitting fighters from Marvel and Capcom against each other. The collection includes the following classics: X-Men Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, and X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Vs. Capcom Clash of Super Heroes, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 New Age of Heroes and Punisher.

No release date has been set for the game yet, but it should be released later this year. Except for Xbox, that is.
