Thomas Meunier believes it is a shame that Thibaut Courtois will not be at the European Championship, which will be held in Germany next year. The 62-time international says this in an interview with RTBF. “You have to know what you want,” says the 32-year-old right-back.
Thomas Meunier is the first Red Devil to respond after Thibaut Courtois pulled out of next year’s European Championship.
“Thibault has made his choice, and it is good that he has been able to apologize publicly,” says his generational colleague in an interview with RTBF.
Meunier expressed his regret that Courtois will not be in charge of Euro 2024. The experienced right-back responds: “We can use our best pawns and Thibaut is probably the best goalkeeper in the world. So I find it a bit disappointing.”

Thibaut Courtois withdraws from the field because he will not be 100% fit in six months after suffering a serious knee injury.
In the interview with Sporza he also targeted Domenico Tedesco. Is the goalkeeper still playing under the current national coach?
Thomas Meunier answers: “I hope the door is not closed permanently for the Red Devils.”
“If you want to represent your country, don’t do it when it suits you,” says the German club Borussia Dortmund player.
“I hope Thibault can retrace his steps. If his rehabilitation goes well and he can get on the field faster, why shouldn’t he be available for the national team?”
“It will be amazing,” says Meunier, who has struggled with injuries and has been playing again since this month.
