WASHINGTON – Oil supply through a large pipeline in the United States has returned to normal. Colonial Pipeline cautiously restarted the oil pipeline to US time on Wednesday afternoon. The tax, which accounts for almost half of oil, diesel and kerosene exports to the U.S. East Coast, was closed after hackers attacked the colony with hostage-taking software for a week.
According to US President Joe Biden, oil products will be widely available again in a few days. In recent days, more and more gas stations in states like Virginia and North Carolina have lost fuel. Stories of fuel shortages have left Americans hoarding fuel.
Biden reiterated that the United States believes the hackers who attacked the colony belonged to Russia. That does not mean the Russian government is behind it, according to the US president. He wants to discuss the issue of hackers with his Russian envoy, Vladimir Putin.
Biden also wants to focus on cybercrime and the protection of vital infrastructure. He therefore called on the U.S. Senate to quickly approve a number of appointments in the field of cybersecurity.
