Two more charges were filed Wednesday against Myanmar’s ousted President Win Mint. Win Mind was arrested by the military junta early last month along with democratically elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
His lawyer made the new allegations public on Wednesday (photo). The 69-year-old former president is said to have “violated the constitution” and was jailed for three years.
Vin Mind has already been charged with corona violation. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
Following the recent elections, the Myanmar military launched a coup on February 1, with pro-democracy Aung San Suu Kyi and her party emerging as the largest. According to the military, there was fraud in those elections.
There is no evidence of fraud
The military-appointed foreign minister maintained on Wednesday that there were “irregularities” in the election in November last year with the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). However, international observers and the National Electoral Commission found no evidence of this.
